Trečius metus gyvuojantis klubas savo kolekcijoje turi vieną auksinį LMKL apdovanojimą ir vieną sidabrinį. Sostinės klubo krepšininkės padarys viską, jog apgintų nugalėtojų titulą. Vilniečių varžovės – Marijampolės „Sūduvos“ ekipa, kuri šių pirmenybių finale žais po penkerių metų pertraukos.
Milica Dabovic drove WBC Novi Zagreb over the line as they grabbed their first EuroLeague Women Group C success of the season with a 70-67 home victory over Kibirkstis-Vici Vilnius on Wednesday. The scores were level at 57 entering the final period before the visitors pulled away at 65-59 with six minutes to play.
Newcomers Kibirkstis-Vici Vilnius are loving life in EuroLeague Women after some sharp-shooting facilitated another surprise result via a superb 81-64 success against Perfumerias Avenida in Group C. The Lithuanian champions hosted their first EuroLeague Women game and it proved to be just as exciting as their first road trip in the tournament when they left CCC Polkowice stunned on the first night of the season.
LMKL top team – Kibirkstis-VICI (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Utena (1-6) in Vilnius 108-44. It was a great evening for guard Egle Sniokaite who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 assists and 7 steals. Greta Sniokaite helped adding 18 points. Kibirkstis-VICI’s coach Jurgita Streimikyte felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Vilnius: Kibirkstis-VICI (#1) and Jaunieji Talentai (#6). Kibirkstis-VICI (6-0) smashed visiting Jaunieji Talentai (2-4) by 58 points 112-54. The game without a history. Kibirkstis-VICI led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter.
Kibirkstis-Vici Vilnius held their nerve from the free-throw line to take a 68-66 road win over CCC Polkowice in their first EuroLeague Women Group C game on Wednesday. Vilnius made nine of their 10 shots from the line, most notably three in the final 15 seconds, to hang on for victory having led for most of the game. Vita Kuktiene was responsible for the sole miss with 11 seconds to play but she made the second of the pair.
The Lithuanian capital of Vilnius is a long way from home for Drexel standout Hollie Mershon – even if she has her country music playing to remind her of Stateside. After a hugely impressive career in the NCAA which culminated in landing a title in her senior year after scoring almost 20 points-per-game, Mershon has subsequently landed at Kibirkstis-VICI Vilnius.
